Keanu Reeves To Star In New Sci-Fi Movie

Keanu Reeves Passenger

Keanu Reeves Passenger

Keanu Reeves is no stranger to the sci-fi genre starring in many classic and um… not so classic roles (Johnny Mnemonic eek!)

A couple of fun Keanu Reeves facts for you:

Keanu means cool breeze over the mountains in Hawaii

He was born in Beirut, Lebanon.

His mother was a showgirl!

His first major role was in a supporting role in a hockey flick called Youngblood.

Anyway…

According to Deadline Cool Breeze Reeves is set to star in Passengers, a sci-fi flick about a spaceship transporting thousands of people to a distant colony planet. When the ship malfunctions, Reeves wakes from his sleeping chamber 90 years before anyone else. Feeling lonely, his character decides to wake a fellow passenger which marks the beginning of an interstellar love story!

The script for Passenger has already been written by Jon Spaihts which was initially developed by Stephen Hamel at Company Films. Brian Kirk who has directed Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones is set to direct the sci-fi romance.

Obviously there are very few details about the project, but it does sound like it may be inspired by the story of Adam and Eve mixed with themes explored in Moon and Prometheus.

Prometheus may be a better example as Brian kirk who wrote the script for Passenger was also wrote Riddley Scott’s much hated Alien prequel. (but not a prequel, but also a part of Blade Runner, all set in the one Universe ending with an Alien… all very confusing if you ask me!).
